Recently, two organizations developed a partnership to positively benefit healthcare in Mississippi. Community Outreach for Health Awareness (COHA) of Mississippi signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the American Alliance Training Network (AATN), Corp. to help improve healthcare services in Mississippi. “This MOU is about making a change in Mississippi health,” said Dr. Samuel Okaye, COHA’s president. The physician said the MOU is about making a change in the cost (noting cost has been too high) and in service (noting it has often been at the bottom).Mark Williams, AATN president said his company would play the role of a provider in this partnership in that they will take certain tools to help health organizations whether small or large to provide more efficient service, increase overall revenue, capacity and accessibility. “These organizations can be hospices, in care, minor emergency facilities, rest homes, long-term care facilities, large hospitals; it doesn't’t matter,”; Williams said. “Our organization will help those facilities develop tools internally to get them back to the competitive edge.” Williams said mainly through this effort, his company would be helping to eliminate overall waste, specifically “wasted time, wasted motions, so that services; will be quicker and more efficient.” Dr. Okaye explained that COHA has been in business for 15 years. “We’ve impacted more than 10,000 patients providing free Preventive health, education and screenings in the area of heart attack and stroke prevention, alcohol and drug abuse prevention, teen pregnancy, HIV testing, and more,” he said. “What I think is appealing about this partnership is that we will be working together to help so many people".

A Manufacturing Success Story-Mississippi

With support through Hinds Community College this year we have achieved skills in Quality fields that have led us to our goal of achieving new business. This new business from Germany is worth some 1,500,000 various electric harnesses for automotive that no one in this country has to date. We were picked as a business partner because we met high standards as an Automotive Manufacturer with World Class Quality Standards (ISO 9001:2000/TS 16949:2002). New business is coming to U.S. in part due to soaring transportation cost forcing products back to the U.S. We have good people and they are eager to learn, and the one on one training is the Key to learning new world class job skills. Lean Manufacturing, zero manufacturing PPM, Customer specific specifications etc.

For the past few months we have been audited by possible new customers monthly. It takes preparation, discipline, and skills-know-how to pass audits. Hinds Community College provided us with a World Class Training Organization called the AATN. The AATN went above and beyond to provide trainers. Working side by side with our people to ensure understanding was/is achieved.
